MGE: This Is Our Why

What makes Mountain + Gravity Expo different? It’s simple in the purest of ways. Our team sat down to uncover and specifically describe to each other outloud who we are and what we are out to accomplish.

Simply put, we are a group of young guys in a relentless pursuit to accomplish our dream of leaving our mark on the Outdoors saying we did something good; we contributed to the Outdoors that gives us so much, expecting nothing in return. Nature gives us lessons, shows us the evolution of life and beauty; shows us how to love one another without precedent. Mountain + Gravity Expo is our vehicle that aligns us with our purpose and provides us our opportunity to give back. An opportunity to completely change someone’s life by introducing a new friend, colleague, family member to the great outdoors and in return introducing the local ski shop to a new customer that has been filled with new life after experiencing that one of a kind Utah Pow. An opportunity to say while everyone in our generation took to social media talking about doing something to help keep the outdoors sports environment unique, genuine, and maintain its independent roots and passion, we actually pursued to accomplish it as if it was our life mission to see it through. We have gone out in faith to make Utah the flagship location for our expo in the United States and we are believing that over time, with consistent efforts to impact the local community the way we know we can, we will be able to look back and say we made a difference. We made athletes perform better, progress safer, go bigger, calculate risk smarter, and live better, healthier lives for both ourselves and the environment. We aren’t asking you to support us anymore than we’re willing to meet you halfway first. Just like Steve Jobs set out to create the Apple computer, we are setting out to create a movement that will forever seek the community, and independent, passion driven business at the very front of our mission.

5 Year Old Commits, Sends It BIG at Powder Mountain!

It’s no secret that at 5 years old, we were all fearless and about as resiliant as a rubber band! Here’s video proof that supports the notion that kids dream big. Only his second time on Skis, 5 Year old Deegan aims straight for the biggest jump on powder mountain.

He totally yard saled but his spirit was high as he yells “I committed! That was Sick!”

Moral of the story, #SendItLikeDeegan

TGIF – Most Dangerous Rope-Free Climb Ever, Alex Honnold

Early last saturday morning history was made in the climbing world when 31-year-old pro climber Alex Honnold completed the first free solo of Yosemite’s El Capitan, scaling over a half mile of vertical rock without a rope.

At approximately 5:32 a.m. Honnold began climbing Freerider (5.13a) and topped out a brisk 3 hours and 56 minutes later at 9:28 a.m., all without the protection of rope or pre-placed gear.

Honnold scaled roughly 3,000 vertical feet in just under four hours.
